Christmas came early for Tate McRae stans.

Tate McRae, a 21-year-old Canadian pop sensation, skyrocketed to fame following the release of her 2023 album Think Later. Her fiery stage presence and borderline hypnotic music videos have drawn comparisons to Britney Spears, with some dubbing her the next Princess of Pop.

Think Later was released in December 2023 and debuted at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200. The album’s lead single, Greedy, was McRae’s first song to break into the Top 10, peaking at No.3 in January 2024. Greedy spent over 40 weeks on the Billboard 100 and has been streamed over 1.5 billion times on Spotify.

Since 2017, McRae has been honing her craft, but the last year has catapulted her into Hollywood’s spotlight as a must-watch up-and-comer talent.

On November 6, 2023, McRae announced her first world tour that featured 53 shows around the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, with shows in Asia added in spring 2024. The Think Later tour will conclude on November 21, 2024 in Wellington, New Zealand.

This week, to the surprise of her growing fandom, McRae made a big, double announcement. Her new album, So Close to What, is set to drop on February 21, 2025, and a tour launching just weeks later on March 18, 2025—leaving her with barely four months of downtime between world tours.

Just a few hours later, McRae released the first single, 2 Hands, from So Close to What with a new music video laden brimming with the impressive choreography McRae is quickly gaining fame for.

McRae’s Miss Possessive Tour™ will bring added star power with openers Zara Larsson and Benee joining the lineup.

Excited fans flocked to social media to voice their thoughts and share the hype.

“i need someone to pick my jaw up off the floor,” one user commented on Instagram.

“Wow wow wow” commented fellow musician Julia Michaels on Tate’s Instagram post of the 2 Hands video.

Others were surprised to see the Miss Possessive Tour™ take on massive arenas like The O2 in London, an ambitious upgrade to the more intimate theater settings of the Think Later tour.

“The O2 is one of the biggest venues in London—I don’t think she’s going to fill it,” said Reddit user PtakPjak.

In the same discussion, user bizzyizzy says: “I’m very curious to see how this pans out. None of her singles since Greedy have really stuck, so I’m a little hesitant on how likely she is to sell these venues out, especially in Europe.”

However, it’s no surprise that McRae and her team are striking while the iron is hot as the success of Think Later continues to amplify her stardom.

And as a top artist with nearly 39 million monthly listeners on Spotify and nearly five million followers on Instagram, McRae is a force to be reckoned with.

With 50 shows on the Miss Possessive Tour™ lineup, the heavy focus on Europe has left many American fans wishing for more than just 16 U.S. stops.

The Miss Possessive TourTM will start in Mexico City, Mexico on March 18, 2025, and run until September 26, 2025 in Los Angeles, California.

Tickets go on sale November 22, 2024.
