Olivia Rodrigo wrapped her first concert in the Philippines by donating all net ticket sales to a charity supporting women’s health.
Rodrigo—who is half Filipina—announced her collaboration with Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, on Instagram after the Filipino stop of the Guts World Tour at Bocaue’s Philippine Arena.
“Been dreaming of this show for a whileeeee,” the Driver’s License singer captioned a video of herself waving to her fans on stage at the show. “My first time in the Philippines and also my biggest venue ever!!!!!”
It’s not just the largest venue Rodrigo ever performed at. The Philippine Arena, located just under 18 miles out of the island nation’s capital Manila, is the largest indoor event venue in the world. It has a maximum capacity of 55,000—and Rodrigo’s October 5 stop there sold out.
Moreover, ticket to Rodrigo’s GUTS tour in the U.S. were originally listed for between $49.50–$199.50 before after market prices. However, ticket sellers and scalper algorithms quickly bought these tickets up and most were resold between $300–$700.
Factoring in currency exchange rates, costs of living, and national wages, the base price of tickets to the Philippine leg of the tour were lowered to ₱1,500 Filipino pesos, which works out to be about $27 USD. Olivia announced the Phillipines stop and ticket prices on her social son September 9.
Even more impressive: In addition to the sold-out venue, Live Nation Philipines told local Philipines news outlet Philstar that nearly 750,000 fans were on the waitlist.
“I’m SO stoked that all the net ticket sales from last night could be donated to @jhpiego through my fund 4 good,” Rodrigo continues in her Instagram post. “I got to visit the organization while I was in Manila and was so impressed by the work they are doing providing healthcare to women and girls in the Philippines.”
The three-time Grammy winner also included photos of her visit to the women’s health center and wearing a “Miss So Filipina” sash while on stage, a nod to her song, So American.
Jhpiego Celebrates Olivia Rodrigo and Her Donation
According to its website, Jhpiego provides critical health services in more than 35 countries, targeting issues like cervical cancer, malaria, HIV, and maternal health complications.
“We are beyond honored to be the nonprofit #oliviarodrigo chose to support during her first visit to the Philippines,” Jhpiego wrote in a statement on its Instagram story. “Her generosity and commitment to women’s health will make a lasting impact.”
This isn’t the first time that Rodrigo has advocated women’s causes. She suppers local nonprofits through her Fund 4 Good, donating to causes like girls’ education, reproductive rights, and beyond.
While on the U.S. leg of her tour, Rodrigo collaborated with the National Network of Abortion Funds. During her Canadian stops, she teamed up with Women’s Shelters Canada, which the organization posted about on its Instagram.
With her Guts World Tour still ongoing, Rodrigo’s activism and philanthropy are proving just as impactful as her chart-topping music. Rodrigo continues to underscore her growing reputation as not just a talented artist, but also a socially conscious advocate for women’s rights.
