It seems this is the year of Bruno Mars. For all of 2024 the superstar has had a wonderful year of nothing but success—and it looks like he’s not stopping anytime soon.

From overthrowing himself on the charts to opening a club to having a sold-out Vegas residency after completing a world tour, Mr. Mars has been a very busy bee. He’s been jetsetting all over the world for shows and grand openings while dropping singles that land at the top of charts as he goes. And judging by his Instagram, he’s having a blast.

Let’s not forget him starting the year with seven sold-out shows at the Tokyo Dome in January. He wooed the crowds with his beautiful voice and made some very ‘Kawaii’ videos to share with his nearly 38 million followers.

He was back in the U.S. in February, playing for seven nights at the Dolby Live Theatre in Las Vegas while also preparing to open his bar The Pinky Ring at the Bellagio Hotel in Vegas. Doors opened on February 15, and the club has been buzzing with nightly crowds gathering to soak up live music and indulge in the immersive themed experiences ever since.

By March, Mars was in Bangkok for a two-night show before kicking off April in Singapore, where he had another sold-out, two-night show on the 3rd and 5th. For the rest of April and May, he went quiet on his socials and had no performances until June 5, when he had a five-day show back in Vegas at Dolby Live.

The next time we see the 15-time Grammy Winner is in August when he performed at the Foro Sol in Mexico City on the 8th. The 10th and 11th see him at Estadio GNP Seguros, still in Mexico City. While there, he made sure to live his childhood dream of being a luchador and explored the beauty of city life.

On the August 15, Mars dropped Die With A Smile accompanied by a video before heading to the City of Angels to perform at the grand opening of the Intuit Dome in California.

The song was an immediate hit and made everyone wonder why Gaga and Bruno had never collaborated. Whatever the reason is, I for one, am glad they finally got together to make magic, as at the time of writing, the song has spent eight weeks at the top of the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global excl. U.S. charts; the most for any song this year. In the nine weeks since its release, DWAS tallied over 100 million streams globally. By early November, the song had the 1 billion milestone within sight at over 800 million.

Die With A Smile would have stayed at the top for a ninth week, but it was kicked down to the second spot by none other than Bruno himself—or rather Bruno and BLACKPINK member ROSE collaboration APT.

The song was released on October 18 to immediate global acceptance, debuting at the top of Billboard charts. The collaboration made history by becoming the second song Billboard Global charts history to have generate 200 million streams globally in one week.

Die With a Smile and APT songs could not sound more different from each other. DWAS blends together pop, soul, and soft rock with a little bit of country, while APT is more of a pop-punk tune with electropop influences.

While both featured other artists (Gaga and ROSE) are great in their own way, it’s hard not to notice that the common denominator here is Bruno Mars. More proof can be seen with the resurgence of some of his past hits climbing back up the charts; two of them ended up reaching new peaks (Uptown Funk and Treasure). He occupies nine spots on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, with two new songs and seven songs that are years old.

Getting back to his tour life: Bruno spent the last ten days of August back at the Dolby Live Arena, continuing his residency. He goes on to spend the first half of September in Asia, moving from Taiwan to Indonesia and then ending in Malaysia.

He doesn’t stop there. Mars continues globe trotting in Brazil for all of October and a few days in November. His last show was on the fifth of November at Estadio do Mineirao.

The next time he’ll hit the stage will be in December when he performs in Vegas on the Dolby Live stage. Tickets to the show are selling out fast—surprising considering that the cheapest ticket is over $400.

This just goes to show that Bruno Mars is one of the world’s biggest pop stars, and he’ll always have an audience waiting and ready to listen to whatever magic he puts out.
